记得一月一日的时候提到RuiCong拿到Purdue的OFFER。而昨天确定的最新情况是，他拒绝了这个一流商学院，选择了另外一个。

恭喜这位没考SAT的乡亲，拿到University of Wisconsin-Madison的offer，全美排名23名。目前是MAX案例中背景提升最大幅的案例。

Congratulation to RuiCong，在没有SAT成绩的情况下获得普渡(purdue University，全美综合排名64) 常规录取，商科专业。MAX为RuiCong在申请材料中重点强调数学背景。

来自重庆大学的apple的消息，刚刚收到了几个大学的录取，其中最差的是Aston (2008泰晤士报排名全英第15名)，最高的St. Andrews (2008泰晤士报排名第5名)。

You have impressive interpersonal skills while communicating with people from different culture backgrounds

It is crucial that you are familiarized with Microsoft Office family softwares, better with a laptop

前两天回到学校后一直在忙新东方的事情，导致申请一直没有来得及递交出去，但是这几天还是挺有收获的。

虽然给Joe的策划书递交上去后，没什么效果，但是周成刚老师到重庆来了。于是跟他一起，作为新东方集团的第一次意向性合作为目的，正是拜访英国领事馆文化教育处，以期待能够达成一个双方合作的意愿。不过想必重庆领事馆文教处会更好奇，为什么周成刚老师会出现在重庆来谈这个全国合作的事情，为什么不是北京。

其实，这也是计划中的一部分。在跟Arthur构思当中，重庆代表西南可以先尝试一下，小规模的合作，然后推广全国。包括去英国大学的冬夏令营（目前BC正在邀请我们与他们和做东夏令营的项目，所以，如果你想在假期跟Mingke一起去英国游大学的话，可以考虑报名哦），当然，更重要的是英语培训方面的合作，新东方（或者说我们的想法）其实只需要与BC像他们和中介现有的合作就好了。

今天又到上海了，这个月第二次出现在鸭毛之都。这次的会议主题是出国留学直通车，计划中这个项目可以让乡亲们同过新东方培训所有留学需要的课程，然后由新东方负责申请和签证的问题。简单点说，就是留学中介。这个项目的启动晚于我和Arthur提出的相同项目，晚了大概一年。

前两天的课较多，导致急性咽炎，现在说话有点毛病。

3. 所有以前学的经济学的术语我都只会英文版，直接导致市长说的东西，我要反映半天才能对应上。

4. 市长希望渣打银行开展其特色业务，也欢迎渣打为内地市民提供购买香港市场股票的渠道。

5. 真正与市长用中文对话的人是渣打银行的中国区总裁曾璟璇女士，香港特首的妹妹。

6. 曾璟璇女士反复强调Lord Turner是前麦肯锡总裁之一，而根本没有提及男爵的其它身份，比如卡斯商学院和LSE的教授，由此可见其对麦肯锡的认可程度之高。

7. Lord Turner问我对本地经济的看法……我无言以对。本来以前在Bristol的课堂上还可以随便讲讲，现在面对Just Capital的作者，基本不敢开口。不过自己很清楚，这必将成为下一次学习的最大动力。

BGM: What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong 

刚才接到渣打银行(Standard Chartered)的电话，总算确定了23号的Schedule。

当日，为了渣打银行重庆分行的开业，渣打中国区总裁（现在还不知道具体是谁，貌似是个中国人）以及男爵Adair Turner（英国渣打总行董事）将会出席与重庆市长和副市长的见面会，之后洋气的人们会在一块吃个午饭。

这是继以前在学校见到女王以来，接触到的第二高身份的人了。为了23号给Lord Adair Turner做随身翻译的时候不至于一无所知，刚才稍微调查了一下这位男爵的背景。

……果然洋气逼人。Turner男爵同学在商业，公共政策（碰巧我以前也是这个专业的）还有学术方面都有很高的成就。

目前在英国的公共事业方面，他是Merrill Lynch Europe的副主席，United Business Media plc的董事，UK Low Pay Commission和UK Pensions Commission的主席，还是英国首相战略顾问团成员。

在学术方面，他也是LSE（伦敦政治经济学学院）和CASS（伦敦城市大学 卡斯商学院）的经济学和管理学的教授。最近出了一本书Just Capital – The Liberal Economy。

在商业方面，他从剑桥经济系毕业后，在进入麦肯锡（McKinsey & Company）之前，先后在不列颠石油（British Petroleum）和Chase Manhattan Bank 工作。然后在1988年成为麦肯锡的Partner，在1994年成为麦肯锡的董事，负责开拓了东欧市场。之后，任职Confederation of British Industry的董事长。

嗯，我很难想象在这顿饭当中，市长将会怎么找到话题来交流。不过，与其担心这个问题，还不如赶快搞定要不要穿正装打领带的问题……残念……衣柜里面是肯定没有的。

Adair Turner has combined careers in business, public policy and academia. He is currently vice chairman of Merrill Lynch Europe, a director of United Business Media plc, chair of the UK Low Pay Commission and chair of the UK Pensions Commission. Adair is also a visiting professor at the London School of Economics and CASS Business School, City of London and he has recently been appointed as an independent cross bench peer in the House of Lords.

After studying History and Economics at Cambridge University, Adair taught Economics part-time at the university in parallel with his business career. He worked for British Petroleum and Chase Manhattan Bank before joining McKinsey & Company in 1982. He became a partner in 1988 and a director in 1994. During his time at McKinsey, Adair built the firm’s Eastern European practice, opening offices in Moscow, Warsaw and Prague. From 1995 to 1999 he was Director General of the Confederation of British Industry.

Adair is a trustee of the World Wide Fund for Nature and a member of the Council of Management of the National Institute of Economic and Social Research (NIESR). He was also a member of the Prime Minister's Panel of Independent Strategic Advisors from 2001 to 2002 where he focused on health service issues.

Adair holds an Honorary Doctorate from the City University and his book, Just Capital – The Liberal Economy, was recently published by Macmillan.
